HDR
HDR
Nowadays it is indispensable in the specifications of a TV. High Dynamic Range (HDR) is an image technique that provides more brightness, local dimming and 100% color volume. This provides an image display that is more natural, realistic and has a greater contrast range. HDR provides a lot of detail for both bright and dark scenes.
What exactly is HDR? HDR stands for dynamic range in Dutch. This corresponds to another frequently used term, namely contrast. The definition of contrast in this case is the ratio between black and white. HDR provides more subtlety in this ratio. The ratio between dark and bright adapts to the environment with HDR and without significant image artifacts. This HDR technique also provides a wider color range, which means that not only the white and black colors are detailed, but the entire color spectrum is included.
There are several HDR standards, of which 'HDR10' is the most widely used. Recently, a new HDR10+ technology has been introduced. HDR10+ uses dynamic metadata. This means that is used in every scene and that the image quality is more optimized compared to the standard HDR10 technology. With HDR10+ you can enjoy the brightest and most contrasty images, and optimal detail in dark and light images.
