Latest TVs of 2020
It is almost unimaginable, but every year manufacturers manage to provide televisions with new techniques and technologies. Over the years, the TV has changed from a viewing tube to an aid in daily life. For example, many 2020 TVs can be linked to smart home devices and thus form a central hub for your home. For example, you can dim your lights via the TV or receive a notification on the TV when the laundry is done. In the past, you always needed a remote control to operate the TV, nowadays it is increasingly possible by means of voice control or an app on your phone. Watching TV has now evolved so much that it is actually no longer simple TV watching. Dolby Vision IQ
Dolby Vision IQ adjusts the brightness of the Dolby Vision HDR display to the amount of light in the room. A built-in light sensor detects the lighting conditions and Dolby Vision IQ adjusts the contrast, color and brightness based on this data. This means you will not be bothered by images that are too bright in dark rooms or images that are too dark in lit rooms. So you will always enjoy optimal HDR display. This technology can be found on a number of LG OLED TVs and Panasonic OLED TVs. Instead of Dolby Vision IQ, Sony uses its own technology: Ambient Optimization.
Filmmaker fashion
This picture mode was invented by the UHD Alliance. This group is formed by major players from the film and TV industry. Think of Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Dolby, Paramount Pictures, Universal and Warner Brothers. With Filmmaker Mode, content is displayed as the creator intended. Every form of processing that the TV does is disabled. Motion on TVs is an issue that many filmmakers have problems with. Many brands add extra frames to the image using techniques. Images look smooth, but unnatural. By disabling these techniques, films look cinematic again.
Gaming TV
Televisions are becoming increasingly suitable for professional gaming. For example, brands such as LG, Samsung and Sony offer support for technologies such as G-Sync, FreeSync or Variable Refresh Rate. With HDMI 2.1, a maximum image display of 4K with 120 Hz is possible. Every year, the input lag on televisions is improved. This allows gaming TVs to compete better and better with gaming monitors. Gamers are increasingly convinced to play games on a TV instead of a monitor.
48 inch OLED TV
More and more people are interested in an OLED TV. These were previously only available from 55 inches. For many living rooms, a 55 inch television is too big, the demand for a 48 inch OLED TV was therefore enormous. People had to wait a long time for it, but the 48" OLED TVs will finally come onto the market in 2020. There is not much choice, LG and Sony both bring one model to the market. Sony comes with the KD-48A9 and LG comes with the OLED48CX6LB .
TVs with AI
Televisions have been equipped with AI for a while now, think of 4K upscaling for example. This year AI will play a bigger role. As mentioned earlier, some devices can adjust the HDR display to the lighting conditions. AI does not only play a role in the field of image, the sound is also controlled more intelligently. Sony's Ambient Optimization measures the room and detects objects such as tables, cabinets and curtains and adjusts the acoustics accordingly. The sound therefore always sounds optimal.
